First, let’s take a look at the career achievements of the newest MLB Hall of Famers:
Carlos Beltrán
Carlos Beltrán became just the third player with a Mets cap on his Hall of Fame plaque, and the sixth Hall of Famer hailing from Puerto Rico. A powerful switch-hitter and complete player combining excellent defense, baserunning and hitting. Beltrán won the AL Rookie of the Year with Kansas City in 1999. He posted eight 100-RBI seasons and slashed .307/.412/.609 in his Postseason career. He was a nine-time All-Star and three-time Gold Glove winner for his defense in center field across a 20-year career spanning from 1998-2017, culminating in a World Series championship. Among all players with at least 300 stolen bases, Beltrán is the most efficient base stealer in history with a success rate of 86.4%. Beltrán played for the Kansas City Royals, Houston Astros, New York Mets, San Francisco Giants, St. Louis Cardinals, New York Yankees, and Texas Rangers.
Andruw Jones
Andruw Jones was one of the best center fielders of his generation. Combined with his powerful bat, Jones helped the Atlanta Braves advance to the Postseason in each of the first ten years of his career. At the age of 19 in 1996, he became the youngest player ever to homer in the World Series, with two in Game 1. From 1998–2007, Jones averaged 35 home runs, and over 100 RBI; he also won the Gold Glove in all ten seasons. Jones is the first Caraçao native to join the Hall of Fame, and he is one of only four players with at least 10 Gold Gloves and 400 home runs. He played from 1996–2012, starting with the Atlanta Braves, then the Lost Angeles Dodgers, Texas Rangers, Chicago White Sox, and New York Yankees.
Jeff Kent
Jeff Kent set a new standard for middle infielder power production. Named NL MVP in 200, he posted a .334 average, 33 home runs and 125 RBI. A five-time All-Star, Kent helped the Giants to the NL pennant in 2002 with 37 home runs. In 12 seasons he hit at least 20 home runs and set a new career record for home runs by a second baseman with 377. He also holds the record for second basemen with the most seasons with at least 100 RBI, with eight. Kent played from 1992–2008, suiting up for the Toronto Blue Jays, New York Mets, Cleveland Indians, San Francisco Giants, Houston Astros, and Los Angeles Dodgers.
